John G. Fedynsky

Treasurer John G. Fedynsky is the author of Michigan’s County Courthouses: An Encyclopedic Tour of Michigan Courthouses, published in 2010. That spring, John gave the keynote presentation at the Society’s Annual Luncheon. John has since written articles for the newsletter on such subjects as Augustus Woodward and Professor John Reed. His ongoing projects include the inaugural compilation of a Michigan Supreme Court Law Clerk Directory.

John is an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan. He defends against civil rights cases brought against troopers of the Michigan State Police. He litigates trials and appeals in Michigan’s federal and state courts.

John graduated from Georgetown University and the University of Michigan Law School. He also studied at the London School of Economics and the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute. After law school, he was a research attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals in Grand Rapids and Detroit. He then served as a law clerk with Hon. Robert H. Cleland of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. John grew up in Ferndale – before it was cool to say you lived there. He resides in Pleasant Ridge. He joined the Board in 2012.
