John has been an attorney for more than fifty years. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1969, John attended the University of Detroit Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1973. After a brief stint as an assistant attorney general, John practiced with legendary attorney Tom Downs before moving to Miller Canfield in 1980, and Honigman Law in 1989. Over the years, John has served as attorney for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Consumers Power Co., Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, and Michigan Citizens Lobby.
In addition, John has also served on the Sparrow Health System Board of Directors, including in the position of chairman, during difficult periods of the pandemic and aftermath of the MSU campus shooting, as well as the transition to the University Michigan Health System. He was recently awarded the President’s Award by the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow.
