It may have been predestined that Matthew C. Herstein would become involved in the Soci
ety. First, he is the son of former Society president Carl Herstein. Second, he majored in history during his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan (2002).
After earning his undergraduate’s degree, Matthew attended the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he graduated, with honors, in 2005. hree years after Matthew was admitted to the Michigan Bar (in 2005), he began his service on the Society Board, cumulating in his election as Vice President in 2024.
Matthew is a partner at the law firm of Deneweth Vittiglio & Sassak, P.C., in Troy, Michigan.
He currently lives in Oakland County with his wife and three children.
